Im my recent trip down to Southampton to film a Green screen shoot for my clients Benefex, I listened to some of my favourite old albums, and I thought I would put up 2 posts to mention them.

Ok so the whole album isnt brilliant, but the first 5 tracks on it are just amazing… and this “Get along with you”  video is totally bonkers as well!

If your interested, this was one of the first albums that the “Neptunes” & Dark Child produced…and probably put them on the map. Obviously the sound quality from youtube on this clip doesnt do it justice, but I have really struggled to own anything that had BIGGER beats than this track.

Monopod it!

thats to use a “Mono pod” with it.  A telescopic mono pod is very light, and combined with the small camera that allows you to screw a stabilizing facility in to it, its a great way of “opening up” your shots, or perhaps getting two people into view instead of going from one to the other.

Consistency

Not the most constructive, not the most thought out, but the whole point in this mornings  Optimistic Monday is that to get a regular following, or build a community who are interested in what you do, try to be consistent. If, like me you have chosen a “day” in the week to put your videos out there, then by any means, make sure you get that video out there on that day!

For the last couple of weeks, I have been filming “in the week” and have uploaded and posted it up on the Monday morning. I didnt really have the same amount of time to do that this week, but still did the quick video above over breakfast with Little JB this morning.

My first video job directly from twitter!

Who says you cant get direct business from using Social Media? This video is living proof that you can!


It was along day, due to the long drive but it was worth it!

A “Green Screen” shoot is when you light your subject in front of a green screen, then when you edit the footage, you can “blend in” any colour background you like. My client saw my “video for social media” videos on the WTV Media website and were impressed enough to pick up the phone and ask me to come down and film them talking about their work.

Get more out of Youtube

When you upload your videos to be hosted onto youtube (to later embed into your blog as shown here!) you can add “Annotations” and “Close captions” to your videos to make them REALLY accessable to all your viewers. Annotations really underline your points, or give you way to link to other youtube videos, and close captions stop this problem about people either “allowed” to use audio in their work enviroments, or people who have problems hearing.
